The short answer

A Couples' Retreat at Mariposa Highlands is a private Airstream for two on a quiet ridge in Coulterville, CA, about 36 miles (roughly an hour) from Yosemite. Each Airstream has a queen bed, a kitchenette, a BBQ grill, heating, and its own outdoor space facing the sunset. Spend slow mornings with coffee, a hike or the 9 AM visit with Pearl, Lola and Lemon, then evenings by your own propane fire pit and under the stars. Our thermal spa is coming in 2027.

A two-night couples' retreat

  1. Day 1, afternoon

    Arrive and unwind

    Your Airstream

    Come early if you like (see Arrive Early, Stay Late). Settle in at 3 PM and pour a drink on your patio.

  2. Day 1, sunset

    Dinner by the propane fire pit

    Your outdoor space

    Grill dinner on your BBQ, then watch the sun drop behind the ridges. Stay out by your own propane fire pit as the stars come out.

  3. Day 2, morning

    Coffee and cows

Insider tips from the family

    Grocery shop on your drive

    Each Airstream has a kitchenette and a BBQ grill. Small local grocery stores are just a few minutes away, but we recommend a full shop in one of the bigger towns on your drive, like Merced, Turlock, or Modesto. Coming from the Mariposa side, Mariposa has a large grocery store, and Yosemite Valley has a grocery store too (a little more expensive).

Getting there

Mariposa Highlands is on Penon Blanco Road in Coulterville, CA, in the Sierra foothills between Lake McClure and Lake Don Pedro. We share the exact address after you book.

We are about 36 miles (roughly an hour) from Yosemite's Big Oak Flat entrance via Hwy 120.

The roads are paved asphalt all the way to us.

Good to know

  • Each Airstream sleeps up to 3 (queen + futon).
  • Every site has its own propane fire pit. Seasonal rules:. No wood fires.
  • Quiet hours start at 10 PM.
  • Pets need to be approved first; ask when you inquire.

Is Mariposa Highlands good for couples?

Yes. Each Airstream is private, with its own outdoor space facing the sunset, a queen bed, a kitchenette, and a BBQ grill. It is quiet, with starry nights and the free 9 AM cow visit.

Do the Airstreams have a propane fire pit?

Yes. Every site has its own propane fire pit for evenings outside. Wood fires are not allowed.

Is there a hot tub?

Not yet. Our thermal spa with a hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge is coming in 2027.

How far is it from Yosemite?

About 36 miles (roughly an hour) from Yosemite's Big Oak Flat entrance via Hwy 120.

How much does a couples' stay cost?
